Solid State Meters
Our solid state water meters provide highly accurate water measurement in a compact, encapsulated, weatherproof housing
Solid state water meters are clearly the answer for municipalities, towns, and cities who want to avoid inaccurate water meter readings, high maintenance, poor low-flow performance, issues cause by particulates, and consistent water flow.
To avoid the inherent problems and higher costs associated with mechanical water meters, choose the Badger E-Series® Ultrasonic solid state water meter, which assures you of state-of-the-art technology for more accurate and more trouble-free metering.
Benefits
- Advanced solid-state technology
- Compact
- Totally encapsulated
- Weatherproof
- UV-resistant housing
- Suitable for residential and commercial applications
- Easy-to-read, 9-digit LCD display
- Reports consumption, rate of flow, reverse-flow indication and alarms
- No moving parts
- Greater extended low-flow accuracy as compared to mechanical meters
- Debris such as sand and dirt pass easily through the ultrasonic water meter with no effect on meter accuracy
- Better high-flow performance as compared to mechanical meters
Mechanical meters have critical limitations
One inherent drawback of mechanical water meters is that a minimum water flow is needed to turn the meter’s rotor, which has a basic resistance
that must be overcome. This limits the bottom end of accuracy to about one-quarter of a gallon per minute, or several hundred gallons per day.
Contamination is another inherent drawback of mechanical meters. Corrosive elements and mineral buildup can inhibit the accuracy of mechanical meters. Some mechanical meters suffer calibration issues in as little as two years. When a mechanical meter goes bad, it typically goes “slow”, which results in false measurement, inaccurate billing and lost revenue.
More about the benefits of a solid state water meter
Since our solid state, ultrasonic Badger meter has no moving parts, labor and material costs are greatly reduced over the lifetime of the meter as compared with most mechanical meters. This assures lower operating costs over the long run.
The higher accuracy of a solid state water meter results in precise measurement of water – water that might have otherwise gone unmeasured by a mechanical meter. For a municipality, this can result in revenue associated with several millions of gallons per year that would not have been billed if mechanical meters were not capturing an accurate flow.
Clearly, solid state water meters offer many advantages over mechanical meters.
Meters and only meters
Metering and Technology Solutions is a distributor of solid state water meters in the upper Midwest.
